Sam Thorp Part of Visual Aids show.

postcards from the edge
Postcards From the Edge is a Visual AIDS benefit show and sale of original, postcard-sized works on paper by established and emerging artists. All works are sold on a first-come, first-served basis. The works are signed on the back and exhibited so the artists' signatures cannot be seen. While buyers receive a list of all participating artists, they don't know who created which piece until purchased. All proceeds support the programs of Visual AIDS.

Hosted by Cheim & Read, 547 W 25th St, New York

Art for Sale

A few original paintings for sale here. I don't sell prints or copies. When you by my work, you will beowning the one and only piece. Owning original art is a sign of class and prosperity. And supporting small independent craftsman instead of 3rd world slave labor brings much better karma. Get a portrait drawn as a gift.

This season tell the malls and big box stores they can keep their hideous sweater-vests, piles of Michael Bay DVDs and mass produced crapola. Make it a memorable holiday season by taking the time to find the people on your list something unique.

Sam Thorp at Modern Formations

The Artistic Process as Exorcism: Group show curated by David Grim
The art will not necessarily be evil, gross, monstrous, intimidating, or sexually perverse. It all depends on what the artists are trying to "get out of their system". In other words, if the artists feel like they "must" create some kind of visual art product, and the alternative to doing so is going completely nuts... this art is the end result.
As part of Unblurred.

Most Wanted: Internationally

I was asked by the gallery, Most Wanted Fine Art, to curate an art show of International artists, especially women artists. I thought of these ladies. We all met on a fan discussion board about 5 years ago. We kept in touch on the fan board and through various other social networks. (Deviant Art, Myspace, Facebook, MSN, etc.) Over the years I have seen these ladies produce art (drawings, paintings, photos, designs) and I have witnessed them grow and mature into impressive creative talents. This is the result:
Most Wanted Fine Art
This will be the first time many of them have shown in America. In a few cases the first time they have shown in a gallery setting at all. For more info about the individual artists check the facebook event here. Take some time to check it out, Friday Sept 5th as part of Unblurred. As always Most Wanted throws a great opening party with Grand Snafu and Wilhelm Winery.
